Why does a 29-year-old patient have a small amount of persistent vaginal bleeding 3 months after giving birth?

Postpartum vaginal bleeding (malignant discharge) usually lasts for more than 30 days and clears up in the month after delivery in most women. If there is incomplete uterine regeneration or retained placenta, this may result in a small amount of persistent vaginal bleeding, usually secondary to a genital tract infection such as foul-smelling leucorrhoea and vaginal bleeding, and prolonged recovery time after delivery.
