Do I need to treat an incisional diverticulum if I don’t have children?

The decision as to whether a person with a diverticulated uterus with no fertility needs needs treatment is largely based on the patient’s specific condition.
If the patient does not have too obvious symptoms, no special treatment is usually required and regular review is sufficient. If abnormal uterine bleeding or prolonged or heavy periods occur, even if there is no need for fertility, these symptoms can have an impact on the patient’s life and so treatment is usually required.
Treatment includes medication and surgery. The recommended medication is the oral contraceptive pill, which is then observed after three months. If the patient does not have a need for fertility, hysteroscopic surgical treatment, scar removal repair and, in rare cases, hysterectomy may be performed.
