How long can you live after atrial defect surgery

The length of life after atrial septal defect surgery depends on the patient’s own condition and postoperative care, which needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis and cannot be generalized. Atrial septal defect surgery, clinically known as atrial septal defect repair, is mainly used for patients diagnosed with atrial septal defect. In the case of early simple atrial septal defect, proper care after surgical repair and no other underlying disease will generally not affect the patient’s life expectancy, which is basically the same as that of a normal person. However, if a patient with atrial septal defect is also suffering from heart failure or pulmonary hypertension, the prognosis of such patients is often poor, and there is still a possibility of acute heart failure, malignant arrhythmia, or even sudden death after surgery, and the life expectancy of the patient will be greatly affected. Patients are advised to review regularly after surgery, take medications as prescribed by the doctor, pay attention to strengthening nutrition, avoid staying up late, straining, and refrain from smoking and drinking.
