Many cone patients believe that he or she knows himself or herself well and that there is a very urgent need for treatment such as cross-linking. As a physician, there are many times when this urgency is more deeply felt than in the cone cornea patient, while at the same time the absolute need to analyze and manage the condition rationally and objectively. All of us, all of us, have a sky above our heads, and so do cone-corneal patients, and never need or deserve to be depressed, discouraged, helpless or any other kind of gloom. I received the Rapid Crosslinking Clinical Observation assignment in 2012, and the hospital ethics committee approved the observation program. My patients were among the first in China to be treated with rapid cross-linking, and it was a free clinical trial at the time. Some of them did get better results, some of them not so much, but of course the observation is still going on, and I am grateful to them. Not only that, over the years, I have seen different cone patients in different stages and been impressed by their strength. What is even more gratifying is that in August 2015, our CFDA passed the treatment of preserving epithelial rapid corneal crosslinking, which is very, very beneficial to patients with primary cones and cones found after surgery such as laser, but also some patients with extended corneal qualities that require laser corneal surgery will benefit from it more safely. As a doctor, I understand the long-term goals and benefits of the patient’s consultation and treatment, so I ask all treated patients to make sure that they are reviewed on a regular basis, and those who are individually allowed to be reviewed locally, even if they are in Inner Mongolia or Xinjiang, or Yunnan or Northeast China, need to do regular follow-up visits and make sure to give timely feedback after the review. I heard that there will be a public welfare cone fund in China, which may also help some of the younger cone patients, I will continue to pay attention and give feedback to the cone patients who are expected to receive it.
