Most patients with ventricular anterior contraction, in the absence of organic heart disease and without significant symptoms of their own, will recover without treatment. Those with symptoms usually require symptomatic treatment and generally have a good prognosis.
Patients with more frequent episodes of ventricular asystole (e.g. 10,000 episodes/24 hours) or more clinically significant symptoms may be considered for radiofrequency ablation treatment. Radiofrequency ablation is currently a minimally invasive procedure that is highly effective in treating the majority of frequent ventricular premature contractions, with a success rate of over 90%.
Patients with organic heart disease with ventricular premature contractions usually require treatment for the specific cause and the prognosis is related to the type and severity of the organic heart disease.
