Fever is caused by a combination of factors that cause the body’s thermoregulatory point to shift upwards. The thermoregulatory centre, which senses that the body’s temperature is below the thermoregulatory point, starts to send out nerve impulses, i.e. it starts to produce heat through chills, which in turn raises the body temperature, so chills occur before fever starts.
