The typical manifestation of vertigo is the spinning of the sky with nausea when you move. Vertigo, a complex clinical disease, is associated with several disciplines, including otolaryngology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, and psychiatry, and the symptoms of vertigo can occur in several disciplines. Involving otolaryngology, the main diseases are Meniere’s disease and otolithiasis. Meniere’s disease, a disease caused by the accumulation of fluid in the membranous vagus, is mainly characterized by episodes of rotational vertigo that last from about 20 minutes to several hours and can occur repeatedly. Otolithiasis is triggered by the displacement or dislodgement of an otolith in the oval sac of the semicircular canal of the inner ear, and lasts for a shorter period of time. The triggering of vertigo is often closely related to changes in body position and changes in the head. The diagnosis can be made only after a specialized vestibular function examination at the hospital, depending on which problem is causing it.
