Alert for facial nerve palsy

Facial nerve palsy can develop at any age, but it is most common in 20~40 years old, more males than females, most patients develop in winter and spring, but it is not uncommon in summer, often unilateral, with similar chances of occurrence on the left and right side. To prevent facial palsy, pay attention to physical activities, enhance physical fitness and avoid cold and flu. Pay attention to mental conditioning and avoid adverse mental stimulation. Pay attention to diet and avoid over-eating spicy, fatty, sweet and thick tastes, and at the same time increase nutrition appropriately. For otitis media, rheumatic idiopathic facial nerve palsy, or facial nerve palsy caused by osteochondritis in the stem mammary foramen should be treated early to eliminate the causative factors. In autumn and winter, we should pay attention to the cold and keep warm, do not walk against the wind as much as possible, especially to avoid the direct attack of wind and cold on the face, especially the elderly and weak, after illness, overwork, after drinking and suffering from hypertension, arthritis, neuralgia and other chronic diseases. In summer, take care not to let the wind blow directly on the head and face when you are at home, in a car or sleeping, and adjust the temperature in the air-conditioned room to 28℃, so as not to be overly cool. In the acute stage of the disease, pay attention to rest, keep the face and ears warm, avoid cold stimulation, and protect the eyes to prevent intraocular infection, especially corneal damage. Cover the affected eye with an eye mask after sleeping and take some eye drops to reduce infection. Avoid stimulation by light sources, avoid overuse of eyes, pay attention to eye rest, and reduce stimulation by light sources such as TV, computer, and ultraviolet light. For patients with facial paralysis, apply hot towels to the face at night for 15 minutes once, two times a day.
