Diabetic retinopathy firstly needs general treatment, and then according to the patient’s condition, corresponding photocoagulation treatment, vitrectomy and so on are chosen. 1. General treatment: Patients with diabetic retinopathy should strictly control blood sugar, treat hypertension and have regular fundus examination. They can actively control blood sugar by controlling diet, strengthening exercise, and using medication such as insulin. 2. Selection according to the condition: For patients with severe proliferative and non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy, total retinal photocoagulation is needed to prevent the lesion from continuing to deteriorate; for patients with vitreous hemorrhage that is not absorbed for a long time, or retinal detachment with pulling, especially when the macula is affected, vitrectomy should be performed, and total retinal photocoagulation should be done at the same time during the operation. In addition, if macular edema is present, local photocoagulation is feasible for localized macular edema, and macular grating photocoagulation is feasible for diffuse, cystoid macular edema. Patients diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy are advised to seek prompt medical attention.
