I often have friends with medical reports who are confused or even alarmed to tell me that they have sinus rhythm! In fact, do not be nervous, because “sinus rhythm” is not a manifestation of heart disease. The heart is like a “pump” that runs blood to all parts of the body through regular contraction and diastole, and a heartbeat marks a pumping of the heart. Heart rhythm is the rhythm of the heartbeat. In a normal person, the heartbeat is directed and controlled by a head called the sinus node. The sinus node sends electrical excitation signals to every part of the heart, stimulating the heart to beat. This sinus node-dominated heartbeat is called “sinus rhythm” and is a normal heart rhythm. Sinus rhythm is about 60 to 100 beats per minute. This is where the number of heartbeats per minute, or rhythm, comes from.
