What is ischemic necrosis of the femoral head

Femoral head ischemic row, also known as aseptic necrosis of the femoral head, is distinct from femoral head necrosis caused by septic infection. It has become one of the common and difficult to treat chronic diseases in orthopedic clinics. Since the world medical community first recognized the disease of femoral head necrosis in 1888, femoral head necrosis has become a multiple and common disease. Especially the widespread use of hormones and the improvement of living standards have led to an increase in alcohol consumption, and the incidence of osteonecrosis of the femoral head has been increasing year by year. According to incomplete statistics, there are about 30 million people suffering from this disease worldwide, and about 4 million people in China. The latest survey shows that there is no obvious gender difference in the occurrence of this disease, and it can occur at any age, but most often at the age of 31 to 60. On the one hand, it is non-traumatic, such as long-term or large amount of glucocorticoid use; long-term alcohol; hypertension, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, obesity, gout, after radiation treatment, drug effects, etc., which also easily cause femoral head necrosis. On the other hand, traumatic injury to the hip, fracture of the femoral head or neck, dislocation of the hip joint, etc. can cause local ischemia of the femoral head, which can further develop into necrosis, and since the hip joint is the main long-term weight-bearing joint, the joint space will shrink over time, and the femoral head will collapse. Femoral head necrosis often causes severe disability of the hip joint in the late stage, therefore, it is getting more and more attention from the medical profession. Femoral head necrosis is very much like a branch of a tree, which dies due to insects or other reasons. The process of dying is gradual, and the dead trunk is not strong and easily broken, but the dead wood will also sprout new shoots and grow new branches in spring, which is similar to the treatment process of femoral head necrosis. Therefore most patients with femoral head necrosis should be treated actively.
