Pulpitis is one of the causes of wisdom tooth pain. Patients with acute pulpitis usually have severe pain, which is paroxysmal, comes in bursts and has an acute onset, appearing within a short period of time. Chronic pulpitis symptoms are relatively atypical and the pain is relatively mild, vague or dull. Patients may have a history of prolonged pain following cold or hot stimulation.
