Autologous cartilage rhinoplasty after-effects

Autologous cartilage has become the most reasonable rhinoplasty material recognized by the medical plastic surgery industry, among which the most used are ear cartilage, nasal septum cartilage and rib cartilage. If only the tip of the nose and the nasal column are needed, the use of autologous ear cartilage or nasal septum cartilage is sufficient, while if the bridge of the nose is needed, autologous rib cartilage is required. The possible sequelae of autologous cartilage rhinoplasty include bruising, bleeding, swelling, infection and unattractive appearance. Compared to prosthetic rhinoplasty, autologous rhinoplasty is still better as it does not show symptoms such as rejection and displacement of the prosthesis. If the material of autologous cartilage rhinoplasty is taken from ear cartilage, it can only be used to raise the tip of the nose, but not for the nasal columella, because the cartilage of the ear turbinate has curvature, so the nasal columella will be bent after surgery, so it will not be fully absorbed, and the absorption rate is different for different people, generally below 15%; if the material is taken from rib cartilage, there will be residual cut marks on the chest, and part of the rib cartilage will be easily bent and deformed after transplantation; if the material is taken from nasal septum If the material is taken from the nasal septum cartilage, the absorption rate is also generally below 15%, and it can generally only be used for nasal tip and nasal small column facelift. After the autologous cartilage rhinoplasty, in order to reduce the possibility of sequelae, patients need to pay attention to the following points: 1, keep rest, preferably semi-horizontal; 2, avoid water on the surgical site to prevent infection; 3, the diet is mainly light, avoid spicy and stimulating food.
