Post-operative considerations after excimer refractive surgery

  1.Normal phenomenon after surgery: You will have symptoms such as tearing, photophobia and foreign body sensation in the eyes on the day after excimer surgery, please try to close your eyes and rest, do not turn your eyes and rub your eyes. Some patients may experience slight eyelid swelling, foreign body sensation, tearing, and conjunctival congestion for 1-3 days after surgery, which will disappear soon. There is a process of vision improvement after surgery, which is related to the degree of myopia and individual differences, generally 3 to 6 months for basic stability. During the postoperative recovery period, there may be fluctuations in visual acuity, difficulty in seeing near, different vision in both eyes, dry eyes and blurred vision at night and in dark places, etc. Please do not worry.  2.Post-operative proper care: After surgery, please pay attention to eye hygiene and careful protection, do not let the sewage flow into the eye for 7 days after surgery, be careful when washing face, hair and bathing, do not swim for 1 month, prevent foreign objects such as sand from entering the eye, avoid strenuous exercise and prevent eye trauma, and prohibit the abuse of eye cosmetics for 2 weeks. It is recommended that you wear flat glasses or sunglasses when you are outdoors for 1 month after surgery to block foreign objects such as sand from entering your eyes. Do not rub your eyes hard within 1 month after surgery, and avoid excessive eye fatigue, such as watching TV, computer, books, etc. for a long time.  3.Post-operative follow-up: The 1st, 4th, 10th, 1st, 3rd, 6th, 1st, 2nd year post-operative eye examinations are required. If you are away for school, military service or business trip, please follow up at your local hospital ophthalmology department and receive appropriate treatment. If you have eye pain or other abnormalities, you can go to the hospital for outpatient examination at any time. Please do not be negligent, so as not to delay the correct diagnosis and treatment and affect the effect of surgery.  4.Post-operative medication regimen: corticosteroid eye drops: LASIK post-operative should generally take 4 weeks: 4 times daily in the first week, 3 times daily in the second week, 2 times daily in the third week, 1 time daily in the fourth week, then stop or follow the doctor’s advice.LASEK post-operative application generally takes 4 months: 1st month: 4 times daily, 2nd month: 3 times daily, 3rd month: 2 times daily, 4th month: 1 time daily. 1 time, then stop or follow the doctor’s prescription. In case of farsightedness for surgery, the medication is different from nearsightedness and is administered according to the doctor’s instructions.  Artificial tear drops: Apply about 4 times a day for 6 months, depending on the symptoms of dry eyes.
