After heart bypass surgery, there is a possibility of non-healing sternotomy due to various factors, once it happens, the condition is dangerous and must be treated as early as possible. First of all, it is important to maintain as stable a systemic condition as possible, including vital signs, nutritional status, plasma protein as close to normal as possible, and relatively stable cardiac and renal function. Surgery consists of simple debridement, using intermittent low negative pressure to control the wound, and some patients can heal. Most require surgery to occlude the wound using a peripheral muscle flap or large omentum. Delaying surgery only increases the risk to life.
