Disulfiram-like reactions are toxic reactions in which certain metabolic reactions are impaired after consuming alcohol-containing products before or after taking certain drugs that contain disulfiram-like structures or have the same mechanism of action, resulting in the accumulation of acetaldehyde in the body. Disulfiram-like reactions are common when cephalosporins, metronidazole, tinidazole, or glucose-lowering drugs are taken during alcohol consumption, and patients often experience dizziness, headache, nausea, flushing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and so on. Other patients may experience a drop in blood pressure, difficulty breathing, or even shock and death. Therefore, try not to take drugs with disulfiram-like structures, such as cephalosporins and nitroimidazoles, during alcohol consumption. Also, it is important to prohibit drinking alcohol and consuming alcohol-containing drugs and foods while taking medications.
