Causes of sciatica

Sciatica is a common symptom of low back and leg pain, and most sciatica is clinically diagnosed as lumbar disc herniation, especially with the popularity of CT in recent years, almost all sciatica is diagnosed as lumbar disc herniation or lumbar disc bulge, while clinicians neglect detailed physical examination and careful analysis, resulting in a large number of misdiagnosed and mistreated patients. In fact, lumbar disc herniation as the cause of sciatica only accounts for about 50%, there are other causes that can cause obvious symptoms of sciatica, the most common cause is also the most easily ignored cause is sacroiliac joint pathology, followed by pear muscle spasm. Anatomically, there are three main causes of sciatica: 1) stimulation of the starting point of the sciatic nerve, this phenomenon is mainly due to lumbar disc lesions; 2) sciatic nerve pelvic travel area, when the sacroiliac joint lesions such as misalignment, impingement, etc., stimulate the sciatic nerve in front of the pain and numbness of the lower limbs; 3) spasm of the pear-shaped muscle directly stuck sciatic nerve and painful performance of the lower limbs. The three reasons for the treatment are completely different, which is why the clinical so-called “lumbar disc herniation” treatment effect is poor, so that some patients receive surgery and the effect is not ideal. At present, only 5% of patients with herniated disc need to undergo surgery, the rest can be cured by systematic conservative treatment and minimally invasive treatment; sacroiliac joint lesions and pear-shaped muscle spasm can be cured by radiofrequency temperature-controlled treatment, radiofrequency temperature-controlled treatment technology is a minimally invasive treatment technology introduced in recent years, the advantages of which are minimally invasive, precise efficacy, almost no side effects, and low cost, etc., which is widely used in the field of pain It is widely used in the field of pain treatment, especially for the treatment of cervical and lumbar disc herniation and soft tissue pain with excellent results, so that some previously incurable pain diseases can be cured. We would like to remind patients with back and leg pain that they must make a clear diagnosis before choosing the right method for treatment.
