How to choose and carry out treatment if you have cancer

Positive attitude and optimistic initiative are the beginning of all treatment] Modern medical progress shows that many cancers are not incurable. With active treatment, some patients may live with tumors for the rest of their lives, but they can still enjoy life as healthy people as long as they have regular checkups and adhere to “corrective” treatment. Therefore, after correctly understanding the occurrence and treatment of cancer, cancer patients and their family members should be prepared to fight for a long time, cultivate an optimistic and correct attitude towards life, establish a positive and winning belief, and create a relaxed and happy living environment for patients. According to Sun Liang-sheng of the Department of Oncology of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, sudden and strong mental stimulation or repeated and persistent emotional and moral stimulation can cause damage to the function of human internal organs, disorder of qi, imbalance of qi, blood, yin and yang and cause disease. Many studies conducted by modern medical psychologists have also confirmed the close relationship between mental factors and malignant tumors. It has been pointed out that major life events affecting the occurrence of cancer generally precede the onset of cancer by 6-8 months, and depression, disappointment and sadness may be the precursors of cancer. It has also been found that the sadness, depression and anxiety of death and parting can be seen about one year before the onset of cancer. Clinically, when many patients learn that they have cancer, they show various adverse emotional changes such as fear and anxiety, loneliness and depression, anger and hatred. There is an “imagination therapy” that can be performed by the patient himself under the guidance of a doctor. Patients can imply a certain idea to themselves, such as: imagining how they have beaten cancer, have already beaten cancer, etc. This may improve the immune function in the body. Usually, patients should also try to choose their happiness and follow it in their life, and abandon their worries. Instead of complaining and being pessimistic because of the many changes brought about by cancer, patients should try to cultivate the attitude of “tranquility and emptiness”, avoid excessive emotional changes and mental stimulation, be cheerful and optimistic, be magnanimous, and “take things in stride” so that they can have good “coping ability”. The “ability to cope” is good. The attitude of the mind is definitely important to the treatment effect. Doctors should also try to make a full treatment plan for the patient (tentatively set as “5-year treatment plan”) and tell the patient the possible course of treatment so that the patient can gain maximum self-confidence. The doctor should also try to develop a full treatment plan for the patient (tentative “5-year treatment plan”) and tell the patient the possible course of treatment so that the patient can gain maximum self-confidence. Overcoming the disease requires time, wisdom and faith, as well as the cooperation of all parties. The cancer patient is actually the leader in the entire treatment process. If we consider the process of cancer treatment as a long and hard battle, the doctor is only the chief of staff and/or the minister of war, mainly providing strategies and tactics for marching and executing battle orders; the patient’s husband or wife is the political commissar, assisting the commander in deciding the power of advancement and retreat; the children should be the deputy commander or deputy political commissar; and the patient himself is the commander-in-chief of the whole army, in charge of the military power to control life and death, choosing The chief of staff program, according to the actual situation of their own troops, to determine the specific combat program and combat minister, and command operations. Patients should not lose confidence because certain symptoms are never relieved, but with the help of their doctors (chief of staff and/or chief of operations), they should look at the whole picture, understand the possible hurdles and changes that may occur during the five-year war, and take various preventive and countermeasures. This modern treatment model allows patients themselves to participate in the process of treating their disease and take responsibility for it, increases their awareness of their disease, strengthens their sense of participation, truly takes responsibility for their own lives, and changes their mood from depressed, negative, and impatient to active, positive, and unhurried. It also strengthens the communication between doctors and patients and enhances mutual understanding and cooperation. Once a patient suffers from cancer, the patient and family members will naturally hand over everything to the doctor and treat the doctor as a “god”. They do not know much about their condition, previous treatment process and examination results, and think that these are only the doctors’ business, and they only need to tell them how to take medication, how to treat and how long they have left to live. In fact, it is difficult to have an in-depth communication with doctors in this way. The patient should always take the lead in the treatment process and assume the role of commander-in-chief, choosing and guiding the doctor to see him or her. This is the true meaning of what has been called “seeking medical help”. Each time a patient visits a doctor, he or she should focus on the main points of the visit, describing to the doctor the symptoms that are most troubling, the problems that need to be solved, the expectations of the disease to be treated, the budget that can be financially invested in the treatment, and where he or she would like to be treated. Patients who are visiting the clinic for the first time can also choose to visit the special needs clinic, which is a little more expensive, but much better value than the scalped tickets that some out-of-town patients buy. The special needs clinic gives you ample time to understand your disease and discuss with your doctor the best and most suitable treatment path for you. A chronic disease like cancer requires time, mutual understanding between doctors and patients, perseverance and patience of the patient, and of course, the necessary financial support. Many unscrupulous businessmen seize this psychology of patients and are driven by the huge profits in the health care market, using false advertisements to blind consumers and deceive cancer patients. As we know, the main difference between drugs and health care products lies in the dosage of various ingredients and the method of use. Cancer patients often see the same ingredients as drugs in the advertisements of health care products and mistakenly take the health care products as drugs in order to get the miraculous effect promised by the business. In the end, cancer patients not only suffer from financial losses, but also delay their illnesses and lose their lives, which is not worth the loss. Cancer patients should trust the hospital and the regular treatment. There is no special medicine for cancer, and there is no panacea in this world. Only by receiving professional treatment can we have a chance to be cured. In China, due to the influence of traditional concept, family members often ask the hospital to cooperate with them to hide the truth of the disease from the patient out of goodwill, describing raw cancer as not raw, malignant as benign, and advanced as early. However, not to mention that such concealment deprives patients of their right to know, it is also harmful to the treatment of diseases. In the outpatient clinic, we often see some family members rush into the consultation room and ask the doctor to conceal the patient’s condition, and out of respect and understanding, the doctor will usually agree. When the consultation is over, the family members will tell the doctor about the patient’s real condition and take out the real examination reports hidden in advance, and even the real medical records recording the previous consultation and treatment. Such a consultation process not only disturbs the doctor’s correct judgment, but also makes the patient take his condition lightly and reduces his compliance with treatment. In addition, we also found in the clinic, in fact, some patients do not get the real communication from family members and medical staff, they may mistakenly think that their condition is heavier than the actual one, but it increases his burden of thought, and may even have a negative or rebellious psychology towards the treatment and miss the good opportunity of treatment, which makes people stifled. Therefore, before visiting a doctor, the family should not only inform the patient of the real condition, but also do a good job of explaining the patient’s thinking in detail. In this way, the doctor can also communicate with the patient better, without having to hide and dodge, but can better help reduce their difficulties and pain. Correct treatment of adverse reactions during treatment In cancer treatment, there are often some adverse reactions, any of which can make patients and their families suffer and lose confidence to continue treatment. Or because radiotherapy and chemotherapy, while destroying tumor cells on a large scale, can also cause harm to normal body cells, damaging the positive energy and affecting the quality of life. The occurrence of adverse drug reactions is related to a variety of factors, such as the action of drugs on cells, route of administration, distribution in the body, the speed and degree of activation in tissues, and the intensity and speed of inactivation in tissues. The same drug has different toxicity manifestations due to different methods of use. The toxicity of drugs to the organism is also selective. Some drugs have heavy myelosuppression, but light vomiting reaction; some drugs have heavy vomiting reaction, but light myelosuppression. Some drugs that inhibit the bone marrow mainly inhibit the growth of white blood cells, while others mainly inhibit the growth of platelets; there are also differences in the time of onset and duration of action of drugs with emesis-inducing effects. When multi-drug combination chemotherapy is used, the rate of killing cancer cells usually increases, and the toxicity also tends to increase. Since the liver is the main metabolic organ of drugs, the excretion of drugs is mainly through the kidneys, followed by bile excreted in the feces, so all kinds of antitumor drugs have different degrees of damage to the liver and kidneys. There are various methods to classify adverse reactions, including acute toxicity, subacute toxicity and chronic toxicity according to the time of occurrence; reversible toxicity and non-reversible toxicity according to regression; hematopoietic system, gastrointestinal tract, liver, urinary system, heart, lung, nervous system, skin and its appendages, blood vessels and other special organs according to the organs and systems affected; others include metabolic reactions and immunosuppression, etc. Chinese medicine has certain advantages and unique efficacy in the treatment of adverse effects and toxic side effects of tumor surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. For example, if the liver function is damaged by chemotherapy, it can strengthen the spleen and dampness, dredge the liver and stomach, regulate the qi, and be accompanied by detoxification. In the case of radiation pneumonia, under the condition of early treatment and observance of the formula, we can treat it by promoting the lung, lowering the lung, clearing the lung and moistening the lung. (clearing the lungs) and moistening the lungs (moistening the lungs), and pay attention to the regulation of the lungs and the five viscera …… can receive more satisfactory results. In other cases, such as cancer pain, stubborn erratic, vomiting, nasal dullness, etc., in addition to the use of Chinese herbal medicine, physical therapy such as acupuncture, fire pot and compress can also be used to achieve certain therapeutic effects to help patients relieve tumor pain. Rational diet and health care treatment] Diet is important for nutritional support, functional recovery and physical strength enhancement. As the saying goes, “Those who get the grain will prosper, those who lose the grain will die.” It is not easy to learn to “eat” scientifically. On the one hand, “if the grain does not enter for half a day, the gas will be decayed and the gas will be less for a day”, and on the other hand, “if the diet is doubled, the stomach and intestines will be injured”. It is common for cancer patients to have partial diet and not pay attention to diversification. In clinical practice, we met a pancreatic cancer patient who ate 2 snappers in a row after the disease, which resulted in severe pancreatitis and failed to save his life for less than 2 weeks. Chinese medicine believes that the five tastes of acid, bitter, sweet, pungent and salty can nourish people, but bias can also hurt people. Commonly speaking, it is much better to eat “mixed” than “picky”. Many cancer patients often ask their doctors, “What kind of food should I eat more of?” In fact, there are degrees of “eating more” and “eating less”. In a certain sense, we should not force ourselves to eat more or less, but rather: “eat whatever you want”, mix and match grains and cereals, pay attention to the intake of vegetables and fruits, adjust vegetarian and non-vegetarian food moderately and emphasize the choice of vegetarian food to make the diet “lively and diverse”. The diet is “lively and varied”. The so-called “taboo” problem, often by the attention of patients and families. As there is a saying in Chinese medicine that “the change of anointing, the foot is born with a big ding”, some information has raised the issue of taboo for cancer, and even over-emphasized the taboo. The author believes that it is not advisable to pay too much attention to this, as many issues lack clinical and experimental research. Cancer patients should pay proper attention to eat more light and easily digestible products, and less fatty and oily cooking and frying products, and treat them flexibly according to their specific conditions, so as not to be biased. Over-emphasis on avoidance of food is not conducive to nutritional support. [Regularity of living and resting, moderate exercise] Cancer patients should pay attention to “regularity of living and resting, no delusion of labor” during treatment and recovery. We should be careful with our living, adapt to the climate, and avoid evil spirits. Firstly, we should pay attention to the combination of movement and static, and moderate work and rest. The movement should be diverse, including physical exercise, qigong, taijiquan, dance ……, etc. The “quiet” to “adjust the spirit”, not only to pay attention to overwork is gas consumption, but also to be vigilant over escape is gas congestion. Second, we should pay attention to the gradual progress, should not be too hasty, to understand that speed is not achieved. Third, we should pay attention to perseverance, especially worth mentioning is that when certain physical discomfort or signs of recurrence of the disease, should promptly seek medical treatment or examination, not blindly superstitious exercise. Fourthly, we should pay attention to the combination of emotional and spiritual adjustment, and organically combine “body training” and “mind training”. Insist on drug conditioning] The recovery of symptoms in cancer rehabilitation treatment, including the recovery of certain damage to the body in tumor treatment, must also rely on drug conditioning. Patients should understand that cancer is a chronic disease and requires long-term treatment (5 years of treatment) to prevent recurrence and metastasis. Together with the adverse effects and toxic side effects of radiotherapy, long-term medication conditioning is essential. Most of the cancer patients will become averse to treatment after 1.5 years of treatment, which is a problem that patients, their families and doctors should pay attention to and be prepared for in advance. Scientific “supplementation”] The issue of “supplementation” is often involved in the rehabilitation treatment of cancer patients. On the one hand, many patients have “deficiency” in different degrees, on the other hand, many tonic medicines have immunomodulatory effect and can suppress cancer by supporting the righteousness, therefore, tonic method is widely used. What cancer patients need to pay attention to is not to take tonic indiscriminately. Some patients ask their doctors to take tonic for them in autumn and winter, or even “secretly” take tonic themselves, which eventually aggravates their disease. This is a violation of the principle of “tonic for deficiency” in TCM theory, which makes the evil Qi stay in the body and not get out after tonic. According to Prof. Yu Erxin from Cancer Hospital of Fudan University, it is very important to tonify the spleen and stomach in cancer treatment. The spleen and the stomach are the basis of the latter and the source of Qi and blood biochemistry. Cancer often occurs due to damage to the spleen and stomach, and the cancer treatment process often damages the spleen and stomach. Therefore, in the treatment and recovery of cancer, the importance of spleen and stomach regulation becomes more prominent. It is advisable to choose sweet and light medicines to regulate the spleen and stomach, “avoid congestion and tonicity and avoid nourishment”, and pay attention to slow adjustment and take time. Besides, we should also pay attention to the principle of “medicine is better than food, and food is better than God’s tonic”. In cancer treatment and recovery, the scientific and correct use of tonic medicine to enhance the patient’s physical condition and overcome cancer successfully is an issue that both doctors and patients should pay attention to. In conclusion, if patients can be optimistic and adopt correct treatment behaviors, they may overcome cancer and prolong their lives.
