You can drink alcohol after taking amoxicillin for a few hours

In general, it is not recommended to drink alcohol within 1 day after taking amoxicillin. Amoxicillin belongs to penicillin antibiotics, which needs to be metabolized and decomposed by human liver after entering human body. Alcohol should generally not be used simultaneously with cephalosporin antibiotics and nitroimidazole antibiotics, which may produce disulfiram-like reactions and a series of adverse reactions, such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, hypotension, etc., and even threaten life. Although amoxicillin does not have a disulfiram reaction with alcohol, the simultaneous entry of both into the body will increase the burden on the liver and increase the risk of drug use. In addition, drinking alcohol during illness is not conducive to recovery from the disease. In conclusion, amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic with allergy risk, and must be used under the guidance of a doctor for better efficacy.
