Do I have to have my uterus removed for placental implantation?

Postpartum haemorrhage is an important cause of maternal death in our country, and placental implantation among the placental factors is another important cause of postpartum haemorrhage.
Hysterectomy is the main measure for treating patients with placental implantation combined with postpartum haemorrhage, but not all patients with placental implantation need to have their uterus removed.
Over the years, clinical studies have concluded that a combination of surgical approaches such as blocking the peri-uterine blood flow and delivering the placenta followed by circumferential butterfly suturing of the uterus not only reduces intraoperative bleeding, but also preserves the uterus, significantly improves the prognosis of women with penetrating placenta implantation and reduces serious maternal complications.
In conclusion, the surgical approach for patients with placental implantation can be treated by partial placental and/or partial uterine wall resection followed by uterine suturing and/or uterine reconstruction depending on the size and extent of placental implantation, but please refer to the clinician’s comprehensive judgment of the patient’s condition for the specific treatment.
