Timing of infertility treatment

I have been engaged in obstetrics and gynecology and assisted reproduction for more than ten years, and I have been too busy with clinical work to pay attention to the knowledge dissemination of the Internet. Recently, I have met some patients in the clinic who took a lot of detours and spent a lot of money, but got nothing! After asking for more details, almost all of them have one thing in common: they saw advertisements on the internet and then went to the clinic, and some even had tubal iodography, colposcopy, hysteroscopy, etc. on their first visit. The doctors in public hospitals are too busy and rarely have the energy to answer questions on the internet, and the media is not professional enough to introduce medical treatment. Thanks for providing this platform, I hope I can give professional guidance to help more infertile couples through my own little efforts! First, let’s briefly introduce the timing of the consultation. As we all know, women’s menstrual cycle determines the timing of many tests, and in order to avoid a wasted trip, we need to know the timing requirements of each test. For men, routine semen tests need to be performed within 3-7 days of abstinence, i.e. 3-7 days after intercourse or seminal emission. For women with regular menstruation, the first ultrasound to monitor ovulation should be performed on day 10-12 of the menstrual cycle, please note that it is the tenth day counting from the first day of menstruation, not ten days after the end of menstruation; for women, the basal endocrine hormone test is done on the morning of the second or third day of menstruation with blood drawn on an empty stomach, and the progesterone test is usually done on the 21st day of the menstrual cycle or the seventh day after ovulation; for fallopian tube For tubal iodography and hysteroscopy, most hospitals choose 3-7 days after menstruation. Please note that sexual intercourse is prohibited after menstruation. Please choose the right time to visit the hospital according to your needs in order to improve efficiency. In addition, some hospitals require appointments for the above tests, so please consult with them in advance.
