Precautions after periodontal cleaning or scaling

After scaling or subgingival scraping and root planing, if you are anesthetized, you should eat 2-4 hours after treatment to prevent biting of the buccal mucosa. For 24 hours after scaling, do not eat food that is too cold or too hot to prevent tooth sensitivity. Do not drink colored drinks such as strong tea and coffee to prevent the tooth surface from hanging pigment. After scaling and root planing, some people may feel swollen or even painful gums, and may have a small amount of blood in their saliva, which can be brushed gently, and will generally start to improve after 24 hours and return to normal after a week. During this period, you should also pay attention not to eat too cold or too hot food to stimulate your teeth. This article is authorized by Dr. Li Peng.
