How big a breast fibroid needs to be surgically removed

In general, breast fibroids over 1cm in diameter need to be surgically removed. Breast fibroids are common benign tumors in clinical practice, with a very low malignancy rate, and can be completely removed and cured by surgery. Breast fibroadenoma is mostly 1-3cm in diameter and grows slowly. A large number of studies have shown that patients with breast fibroadenoma over 1cm in diameter can have symptoms such as breast pain and need surgical removal. However, the patient’s own situation is required. If the patient is planning to get pregnant next, surgery is needed in time to avoid the rapid increase of the tumor with the hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy; if the patient is breastfeeding or pregnant, surgery is risky and usually not operated; if the tumor has the tendency to increase in size or has a family history of breast cancer, etc., active surgery is recommended. In addition, patients with breast fibroids need to pay attention to rest, eat reasonably, and conduct regular breast self-examination. If they feel an increase in size or find other unidentified nodules, they should go to the oncology department in time.
