Routine: Disinfect the wound every 3 days and change the sterile gauze. Parents can buy sterile cotton swabs or pads and sterile gauze from pharmacies if they change the dressing by themselves. Cases in which you can try to change the dressing by yourself: the child’s body temperature is stable, the general condition of the child such as mental reaction, diet and urine output is good, the surface of the wound is flat, there is no obvious redness or swelling, and there is no poor healing such as cracking, hollows or bulging. Cases that need to strengthen the change of medication: newborns (low resistance), sweating a lot (the performance of heart function has not fully recovered), the existence of the above-mentioned poor wound healing, can be increased to every 2 days or even daily wound dressing change, after several times of self-change if the wound does not significantly improve, stop self-change, timely hospital consultation, or the entire wound dressing change in the hospital. Wound removal: Generally, 10 days after surgery or 10-14 days after removal of the suture of the fixed chest tube, the suture can be removed if the wound heals well. After the stitches are removed, it is generally still necessary to cover the sterile dressing for 2-3 days. After 2-3 days, the wound scab falls off and the skin tissue under the scab grows well, then there is no need to change the dressing again. Bathing after surgery: generally the scab falls off 3-5 days after wound removal, the skin tissue under the scab has grown well together, you can take a bath, the wound can touch the water, but still mainly shower, avoid soaking the wound in the water.
