The survival period of patients with chronic pulmonary obstruction, medically known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), is related to the severity of the disease. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can be classified into four levels according to the severity, namely mild, moderate, severe and very severe. Patients with mild COPD have mild symptoms, their lung function is not affected and they do not have respiratory failure, so their life expectancy is usually not affected and they can survive for a long time. In case of severe COPD, the survival time is usually about 5 years if the patient also has pulmonary heart disease. In very severe cases, with respiratory and other organ failure, the survival time is shorter and death usually occurs within days or months. It is recommended that patients with COPD should be treated actively, with timely antibacterial treatment in the acute phase and home oxygen therapy in the remission phase, together with nebulized inhalation drugs to dilate the bronchial tubes to slow down the development of the disease. In daily life, pay attention to keep warm, avoid getting cold, keep enough rest, increase exercise, and improve physical fitness.
