Breast reconstruction restores confidence and makes women more beautiful

Breast is the beauty of women, but breast cancer is also one of the most prevalent cancers among women in the 21st century. Women often think that they are too tired at work and can get better after a short break, or they are too busy at work to seek medical help. This often leads to the deterioration of the disease. However, for women who unfortunately had to have their breasts removed due to breast cancer, breast reconstruction is not only a source of aesthetic appearance but also a source of confidence in survival. Breast reconstruction refers to the reconstruction of the breast after it has been damaged due to various reasons. Breast reconstruction provides breast cancer patients with the opportunity to recover physically and mentally, and can change the outcome of losing a breast after breast cancer surgery in the past. Patients who have undergone mastectomy can consider mammaplasty 3-5 years after radical surgery. Patients who have just discovered that they have breast cancer can choose immediate breast reconstruction, allowing them to recover their physical and psychological beauty and self-esteem as women. According to the survey, the incidence of breast cancer accounts for 7-10% of all malignant tumors in the body. It is one of the most common malignant tumors that affect women’s physical and mental health and even threaten their life safety. Among 100 breast cancer patients who underwent mastectomy in China, only 5.6 underwent breast reconstruction, which is one eighth of that in the United States. In addition, the survey also found that mastectomy makes patients lose their self-confidence, afraid to swim, exercise, go to the spa, and let their significant others see their bodies, causing up to a quarter of patients to suffer from depression, thus leading to a gradual withdrawal from people and reluctance to participate in social activities. In fact, modern medicine has the ability to reconstruct the removed breast, and a better appearance can be obtained after mastectomy, so that the patient can return to her original life style as soon as possible. The impact on image and psychology can be reduced. However, usually after learning about breast cancer, patients are so nervous and anxious that they only focus on fighting the cancer and have no time to think about the problems of post-operative life. Therefore, a good breast cancer treatment team should help the patient to consider this layer early and provide possible options to enable the patient to return to work and life in a healthy way. Especially nowadays, with the popularity of breast screening and the increasing knowledge of the public, coupled with the continuous improvement of various treatment methods, patients’ survival rate in 10 years is quite high. Therefore, it is the physicians’ responsibility to help patients improve their quality of life after surgery.
