Traditional hernia repair often uses combined lumbar and rigid anesthesia, which may induce cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases during anesthesia; urinary retention and slow recovery of gastrointestinal function may also occur after surgery, thus causing abdominal distention and increasing the recurrence rate of hernia; patients usually need to be hospitalized for about 7 days, which increases medical costs. In order to bring safer and more reasonable inguinal hernia surgical treatment to patients, Dr. Sun Qing, deputy chief surgeon of the Department of Surgery of Jinan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, gradually carried out a new surgical method: minimally invasive inguinal hernia repair after returning from a training course in gastrointestinal surgery at Beijing China-Japan Friendship Hospital. There are 5 features of this surgical method: 1. inguinal hernia repair under local anesthesia, which is especially suitable for elderly patients because they often have other diseases such as heart and lung, and local anesthesia has little effect on important organs such as heart and lung and does not cause complications caused by other anesthesia methods. This method is less likely to cause a drop in blood pressure, does not affect cardiopulmonary function, does not require continuous monitoring and treatment equipment, and has no postoperative complications such as pneumonia or urinary retention. Patients can go down to the floor and eat on the same day after surgery, and there is little impact on the function of systemic organs. Compared with conventional hernia repair, this method not only has good results, fast recovery and low recurrence rate, but also features short operation time, mild postoperative pain, short hospitalization and low cost. 2. small incision, generally 2-3 cm smaller than the traditional surgical incision. 3. tension-free repair, no obvious discomfort to the patient after surgery. 4. absorbable thread intradermal suture, no need to remove stitches after surgery. 5. short hospitalization time, normally 3-4 days for discharge. The hospitalization time is short, normally 3-4 days, and the hospitalization cost can be reduced by about 2000 RMB. In addition, our department follows the principle of “individualization” for different types of hernia patients and strictly selects the best quality, safe and comfortable repair materials for tension-free hernia repair treatment, which greatly reduces the recurrence rate.
