Do bone spurs need to be treated?

Bone spurs are the body’s self-protective response.
As the body ages, bone spurs form in all joints to some extent and in most cases do not require treatment.
In some cases, the bone spurs are so severe that they become visible and cause symptoms such as pain, and depending on the condition, doctors may give medication or physiotherapy to relieve the symptoms.
However, bone spurs are essentially bone tissue and there is no medicine that can eliminate them.
Some patients may require surgery if the spur is pressing on a nerve or significantly restricting joint function.
