What is low amniotic fluid? Amniotic fluid that is less than 300ml in late pregnancy is called hypohydramnios. Low amniotic fluid in early and mid pregnancy often ends in miscarriage. When amniotic fluid is low, the amniotic fluid is thick, cloudy and dark green. In the past, the incidence of hypoamniotic fluid was thought to be about 0.1%, but in recent years, due to the widespread use of B-mode ultrasound, the detection rate of hypoamniotic fluid is 0.5% to 4%, and the incidence has increased. Amniotic fluid is often seen in the following cases: 1, fetal anomalies: renal agenesis, renal dysplasia, ureteral or urethral stricture and other anomalies resulting in low or no urine and low amniotic fluid, in addition to pulmonary hypoplasia, short neck or giant jaw can also cause low amniotic fluid. 2, overdue pregnancy: overdue pregnancy disk fetal function, perfusion is not enough, fetal dehydration caused by low amniotic fluid. The incidence of amniotic fluid due to overdue pregnancy is 20-30%. 3, fetal intrauterine growth retardation: low amniotic fluid is a characteristic of fetal intrauterine growth retardation, chronic hypoxia-induced redistribution of fetal blood circulation, mainly specializing in supplying the brain and heart while the kidney blood flow decreases fetal urine production resulting in low amniotic fluid. 4, amniotic membrane lesions: unexplained low amniotic fluid may be related to the lesions of the amnion itself. Treatment options: For those with low amniotic fluid, fetal abnormalities need to be ruled out first. In addition to treating the mother’s disease, bed rest and drinking more water can be used to increase the mother’s blood circulation, which indirectly increases the circulation of the uterine placenta and achieves the purpose of increasing amniotic fluid; amniotic cavity perfusion can also be used to directly increase the amount of amniotic fluid. However, if the fetus is evaluated and found to be at risk of infection, or if the fetus is in poor condition and no longer suitable for living in the uterus, it should be born immediately for proper care.
