Urticaria is not AIDS. Urticaria is a localized tissue edema caused by various internal or external irritations that result in increased vascular permeability. Urticaria typically presents as a windy, large swelling on the skin and is accompanied by a more pronounced itching sensation. The vast majority of patients suffer from this condition as a result of exposure to or consumption of specific items. However, AIDS is a result of HIV infection, which causes a dramatic decrease in lymphocytes and further collapse of the body’s immune system, resulting in a variety of infections and tumors. Of course, patients with AIDS may have some hives-like manifestations during the onset of the disease, but it is not hives that means AIDS.
