After the treatment of hyperthyroidism with iodine 131, in order to make you recover better and avoid the aggravation of hyperthyroidism and other unfavorable factors, the following precautions are summarized, which are expected to be strictly followed by patients and their families. 1. Prohibit eating seafood for at least 1 month and iodine for 2 weeks. Do not rub and massage the thyroid area for one week. 2. Eat foods rich in protein and vitamins (except seafood), such as meat, eggs, milk, fresh vegetables, etc. It is recommended to avoid or use less excitatory drinks such as coffee and alcohol for 1 month. It is recommended that patients with proptosis quit smoking or minimize smoking. 3. Pay attention to rest and recuperation, avoid fright, quarrels and mental stimulation, no heavy physical work for 3 months and no strenuous activities for 6 months. 4.Iodine-131 treatment on the morning of the day of fasting, if necessary, before 7:00 a.m. oral intake of insulin, dose according to medical advice. Do not eat until 2 hours after taking iodine-131 orally. Please follow the doctor’s instructions for other medications and continue symptomatic treatment. 5.If you have cold or enteritis after Iodine-131 treatment, you should get treatment in time to avoid aggravation of hyperthyroidism. If hyperthyroidism worsens sharply, please follow up promptly. 6. Patients with severe hyperthyroidism must be hospitalized for comprehensive treatment and generally need to be observed for several days after iodine-131 treatment. 7. Drink more water within 3 days after oral administration of iodine-131, do not have close contact with pregnant women and children for 1~2 weeks, and require contraception within 6 months. 8. For outpatient treatment of long-distance patients with motion sickness, iodine-131 treatment must be followed by a bus the next day to avoid vomiting and contamination, which may affect the therapeutic effect. 9. Please do not come to the Department of Nuclear Medicine within 1 month after treatment to prevent interference with the testing of other patients, unless the condition is special, contact in advance by telephone (029-87679567) when you come. 10.Review 2, 4, 6 months after treatment to regulate and evaluate the efficacy of treatment. Seafood and iodine are still strictly prohibited for 2 weeks before the review. Please come to the nuclear medicine thyroid specialist on an empty stomach from Monday to Thursday at 8am.
