The other day, a twenty-year-old boy in the clinic had a red rash all over his face and body. When describing his medical history, he learned that he had been treated as an ordinary dermatitis in a hospital for two months without improvement, and then he was transferred to this hospital after his serum results showed positive for HIV antibodies. After careful examination, it was found that he could see dark red rashes on his face, torso and limbs, especially on the palms of his hands and soles of his feet, with nail-sized dark red rashes distributed and a little flaking, which are typical of the symptoms of stage II syphilis. After questioning, he was told that he had had high-risk sex with the same sex two months ago. Then he was given a syphilis serum test, and the result was AIDS combined with syphilis.
The young man’s mother accompanied him to the hospital to get the results, and after understanding that her child had AIDS, she bawled and pulled me to say, “My son has not yet graduated from college, and his father and I have been working hard to earn money for him, so it was hard to pay for a college student, but he got this disease in his twenties. I am also a mother, looking at this young man’s heart is really sad for his misfortune, angry at his indisputable. In the face of his mother’s tears, I only have a few angry words of comfort: “Your son does not care for his own body, you still worry about him what, you have lived a lifetime for him, let him live into a selfish person, you now take care of their own body is the most important, while the body is still healthy to eat, to play, do not think about him.”
In recent years, there are more and more college students with warts, syphilis and even AIDS on outpatient clinics, and homosexuality accounts for a large proportion of the population, and the Ministry of Health’s epidemic report also shows this trend. 2015 in the Ministry of Health’s report on the status of the AIDS epidemic shows that in 2013, the number of reported cases of AIDS in which the occupation is students was over 100 in only five provinces, but in 2014 the figure exceeded The number of all newly reported HIV infections and patients in China was 104,000 in 2014, compared to 56,000 in 2008, an almost twofold increase. However, the number of reported cases among adolescent students nearly quadrupled during the same period. The proportion of young students who have sex with men has risen from 58.5 percent in 2008 to 81.6 percent last year. The average rate of infection among men who have sex with men reached 7.7% in 2014, and the rate continues to increase.
In addition, over the past five years, the number of new HIV infections in China has also shown a younger trend, with the average annual growth rate of HIV infections among young students between the ages of 15 and 24 having reached 35%. The average annual growth rate of HIV infection among young students aged 15 to 24 has reached 35%. In contrast, the basic knowledge of college students about HIV and STD prevention (including the danger of HIV and STD, transmission channels, prevention knowledge and virus detection knowledge) is at a low level, with an average correct rate of 67.5%. According to the 2010 Guangdong University Students’ Sexual and Reproductive Health Research Report, only 34.30% of college students wear condoms every time in various sexual behaviors. There are many health risks in unsafe sex, and 16.96% of the college students interviewed “had genital diseases”, including inflammation, venereal disease, and even some were diagnosed with AIDS.
I think this trend has a lot to do with the fact that college students have just started a brand new journey in life and are entering a semi-social adult life, so the constraints from family and school about sexual life are no longer obvious, and they know a lot about the content of sexual life, but they know little about the correct sexual concept and sexual protection. Young people have more fantasies about love and partners, lack judgment and defensiveness, and lack the power and ability to protect themselves (in extreme outpatient cases, some children have sex with each other knowing that the other person is now infected with an STD). Similarly, teenage pregnancies and abortions are increasing, with data showing that half of the 13 million abortions are among women under the age of 24, and that 20% of women between the ages of 15 and 24 who have sex will become pregnant, and 90% of those who become pregnant will abort. The probability is also very high.
Therefore, college students should know the correct and healthy knowledge of sex, know how to protect themselves, should not be influenced by some yellow websites or yellow novels, the blind pursuit of new and exciting, regardless of the consequences of the desire, once infected with STDs or even AIDS is more than worth the loss. It is suggested that college students should promote the ABC concept of safe and healthy sex (A, abstinence, B, be faithful, loyalty, C, condom, condom), young people should focus mainly on their studies, and lovers should be faithful to each other. Love is beautiful, disease prevention is more important, and condoms are one of the most important tools to prevent sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV. In most of these cases on my clinic, condoms are not used or not used correctly, leaving their bodies in an undefended state, which greatly increases the infection rate of sexually transmitted diseases.
Finally, I hope that young people who read this article can take this as a warning, love is beautiful, gender life is beautiful, such as premature sexual relations, know how to protect themselves, is the most responsible behavior for themselves and their parents and family.
