Mycosis fungoides, also known as vulvovaginal pseudohyphomycosis, is a disease caused by infection by pseudohyphae (fungi) and is treated primarily with antifungal medications, whereas fusidic acid cream is an anti-bacterial infection medication, so fusidic acid cream is not usually recommended for vulvovaginal pseudohyphomycosis.
Fusidic acid cream is indicated for a variety of bacterial skin infections, mainly used for skin infections caused by gram-positive cocci, such as boils, acne, folliculitis, impetigo, onychomycosis, acne vulgaris, trauma co-infections, eczema co-infections, ulcer co-infections.
Vulvovaginal pseudomycosis is caused by pseudomycetes, which belongs to fungal infections, and should be treated with antifungal drugs, such as clotrimazole vaginal tablets, and penicillin vaginal suppositories. And fusidic acid cream is an anti-bacterial infection drug, there is no anti-fungal effect, therefore, vulvovaginal pseudomycosis usually can not be used.
Occasionally, fusidic acid cream may cause a slight tingling sensation after application, rare allergic reactions, is contraindicated for those with allergies to any of the ingredients, and should be used with caution in pregnant and lactating women. Vulvovaginal pseudomycosis patients should seek medical treatment, any medication should be in accordance with the doctor’s instructions, do not use private medication.
