HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a daily pill (usually a combination of two antiretroviral drugs) taken by people who are not currently infected with HIV but are at risk of infection to prevent HIV infection. Preexposure prophylaxis has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection by 92% in high-risk populations when used consistently. If pre-exposure prophylaxis is intermittent, it is much less effective.
