Indications for hysteroscopy

It is useful for the simultaneous diagnosis and treatment of patients with unexplained uterine bleeding, menopausal women with excessive menstrual periods for which drug treatment is ineffective, patients with suspected cervical disease, patients with embryo residue in the uterine cavity after abortion, patients with infertility, patients with scarred pregnancy, patients with suspected uterine polyps, patients with uterine submucosal leiomyomas and patients with suspected uterine adhesions in patients with scanty menstrual periods or menorrhagia after abortion. Patients with abnormal menstrual periods after cesarean section may also undergo hysteroscopy to rule out the presence of induration or diverticulum formation in the lower uterine scar. Patients with excessive menstruation due to tamoxifen prophylaxis after breast cancer and patients who are re-explored 3 months after uterine adhesion release.
