Nasal polyps, how much do you know?

Nasal polyps are a common disease, mostly seen in adults, and rarely occur in children. Nasal polyps can be solitary or multiple; they can occur on one side or both sides, and most patients have multiple or bilateral polyps. Although the shape of nasal polyp is like a tumor, it is not a real tumor. Its occurrence is mainly related to inflammatory stimulation, especially the inflammatory stimulation of allergic reactions, most commonly in patients with allergic rhinitis and sinusitis. Under the stimulation of allergic reaction, the mucous membrane of nasal cavity and sinuses becomes extremely congested and edematous, causing the tissue gap to expand and polyps to occur. Nasal polyps are not a small danger Inflammatory stimulation of nasal polyps, mostly due to chronic sinusitis mucosa at the opening, so that the inflammatory changes gradually formed polyps. The increase in the size of the polyp will impede the ventilation and drainage of the sinuses. This can cause poor drainage of sinus secretions and aggravate sinusitis, such as some mutual cause and effect, forming a vicious cycle aggravating sinusitis, so mutual cause and effect, forming a vicious circle. Nasal polyps can lead to many complications, such as pharyngitis, otitis media and heart, lung and other organs damage, some may even be malignant; a few huge polyps can cause invasive complications. Those fast-growing and huge polyps can squeeze and damage the sinus wall or the parietal wall of the nasal cavity, and then invade the orbit, frontal sinus, anterior cranial fossa, pterygoid sinus and middle cranial fossa. Nasal polyps are prone to recurrence if they are not treated properly or are not treated thoroughly, especially septal sinus-derived nasal polyps. The fundamental measure to prevent the occurrence and recurrence of nasal polyps is to thoroughly treat rhinitis and sinusitis and remove the obstructive lesions near the sinus openings. Treatment of nasal polyps Treatment is mainly surgical excision with etiological treatment. Oral hormone therapy can also be considered for the initial lesions as appropriate. Nasal endoscopy is a new surgical method that has been developed in recent years. It uses cold light source equipped with different angles of view mirrors to enhance the illumination and visibility of various parts of the nasal cavity. The surgery mainly removes the obstruction at the so-called sinus complex of the nasal tract in the lateral wall of the nasal cavity so that the ventilation and drainage of each sinus can be restored, while the mucosa in the sinus can be preserved. The key to keep nasal polyps from recurring 1. Use nasal endoscopy technology to remove nasal polyps completely. This is the guarantee to reduce the recurrence rate after surgery. Since nasal polyps are not only confined to the nose, but also invade the sinuses around, the traditional method of removing nasal polyps with a trap is easy to recur. Nasal endoscopic surgery can not only reach deeper and hidden areas to completely remove nasal polyps, but also reduce the recurrence rate of nasal polyps through surgical operations that conform to the physiological functions of the human body. Due to the limitations of laser and microwave, patients must be very careful when choosing to use laser, microwave and other treatments for nasal polyps. 2, after surgery to regular follow-up. On a regular basis to the doctor to understand the situation of the surgical cavity, if necessary, the surgical cavity should be cleaned, the new granulation or vesicle removal, in order to ensure the effectiveness of surgery, this follow-up time some even last six months. 3, need to adhere to the local medication. Local use of hormonal drugs can reduce the local inflammatory response, thus reducing the recurrence rate.
