Can cystitis cause bloating?

Cystitis does not cause abdominal distension in patients. Patients with cystitis may have symptoms such as frequent urination, urgent urination, painful urination, which may cause pain in the small abdomen and a feeling of incomplete urination, but no abdominal distension. If abdominal distension occurs, it is mostly considered to be a disease of the intestinal tract, such as intestinal flatulence, intestinal obstruction or transient intestinal spasm, which can cause a feeling of bloating. In severe cases of cystitis, fever and chills may occur due to fleshly hematuria or infection spreading to the upper urinary tract, but bladder inflammation does not interfere with intestinal peristalsis, so it does not cause the patient to feel bloated. Patients are advised to undergo routine urine examination and urine culture examination, actively give anti-infection treatment, and also go to the gastrointestinal surgery department for specialist examination to clarify whether there are intestinal lesions causing abdominal distension.
