New strategies for leukemia treatment 1. New molecular target research for leukemia treatment Targeted therapy currently has good efficacy in some leukemias, but for most leukemias, there are no specific targeted therapy drugs. Even for leukemias that are very sensitive to targeted therapy, a significant proportion of patients will eventually develop drug resistance. Therefore, research and discovery of new therapeutic targets for leukemia will undoubtedly help improve the cure rate of leukemia. 2.Development of therapeutic drugs for leukemia stem cells The current tumor stem cell theory suggests that leukemia stem cells, unlike other differentiated leukemia cells, may be resistant to most drugs. Therefore, the development of therapeutic drugs targeting leukemia stem cells will help to completely eradicate leukemia. 3. Research on induced differentiation therapy for leukemia There is a theory that certain leukemic cells can differentiate into normal cells through the induction of certain drugs and has been successful in the treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia. Therefore, induced differentiation therapy is a promising new therapeutic tool in the treatment of leukemia. 4. Research on leukemia gene therapy and targeted therapy Since many leukemia cells are found to be single gene variant cells, theoretically gene therapy and targeted therapy are expected to produce a major breakthrough in the treatment of leukemia. The success of targeted therapy in the treatment of certain leukemias has demonstrated that this theory is indeed feasible. 5.Immunotherapy research for leukemia micro-residual lesions It is currently recognized that the failure of leukemia treatment mainly stems from the existence of leukemia micro-residual lesions. The complete removal of micro-residual lesions by immunotherapy will help to improve the cure rate of leukemia. 6. Controlled study of novel molecular targeted therapy for leukemia and bone marrow transplantation Bone marrow transplantation as a traditional treatment has the following characteristics: donor is difficult to find, expensive, high risk of death due to complications, and low quality of life for some patients after transplantation. Therefore, it is imperative to explore new targeted therapies that can replace bone marrow transplantation. 7.Establishment of leukemia research collaborative organization Leukemia research needs a long-term stable collaborative organization and operation mechanism, so that Chinese leukemia treatment research can rise to a new level and also provide a research platform for new drug creation.
