Do you have to get a blue light for high jaundice?

High jaundice does not necessarily require blue light.

Jaundice is generally categorized into physiological jaundice and pathological jaundice. Physiological jaundice usually subsides within a week or so on its own, while pathological jaundice needs to be combined with blue light irradiation therapy to promote the excretion of unconjugated bilirubin. If the bilirubin value of pathological jaundice reaches the standard of phototherapy without receiving blue light treatment in time, it will easily cause secondary bilirubin encephalopathy, which affects the development of the brain and nervous system, brings a series of sequelae, and even threatens the life of serious cases.

Therefore, once jaundice is detected, don’t leave it to chance, and pay close attention to the jaundice value. If the jaundice value rises too fast or the bilirubin is too high in the laboratory test, it is usually considered to be pathologic jaundice, and it is needed to be treated by blue light irradiation and other medications under the guidance of a professional doctor in time, to prevent aggravation of the condition.
