The symptoms of early stage esophageal cancer are mild, mainly manifesting as mild discomfort behind the sternum, with progressive difficulty in eating as the main manifestation. In the middle and late stages, burning sensation and pinching or pulling-like pain in the esophagus may appear, and in the middle and late stages, food may stimulate the damaged mucosa to produce burning sensation due to damage of the esophageal mucosa.
