A scratch from a domestic dog’s teeth is usually fine if treated promptly. If a domestic dog is strictly vaccinated on a daily basis, the possibility of carrying the rabies virus cannot be ruled out. Since rabies virus has a variable incubation time in the body and is not easily detected in time, rabies vaccination can provide protection. Patients are advised to receive rabies vaccine within 24 hours. If the face is scratched, it is recommended that immunoglobulin be administered at the same time. After prompt and proper treatment, there is usually no significant problem. During the vaccination period, patients are advised to eat lightly, get enough sleep, and avoid excessive mental stress and strenuous exercise. In case of post-injection allergy, patients should promptly visit the general surgery department of the hospital for desensitization treatment.
