How long is the recovery period for biliary pancreatitis

If the symptoms of biliary pancreatitis are mild, recovery is usually possible in 1 week; if it is moderate or severe, it will take longer. Biliary pancreatitis can be caused by common bile duct stones, biliary tract infections, gallbladder stones, biliary roundworms, etc. It usually starts sharply, and mild cases are accompanied by persistent pain in the abdomen, which may radiate to the lower back. The prognosis is usually better, and recovery usually takes about 1 week, but regular checkups are needed. Moderate to severe biliary pancreatitis may be associated with epigastric or total abdominal muscle tension, tenderness, decreased bowel sounds, increased heart rate and respiration, and oliguria. Monitoring of organ function support for infection control, etc., is usually required, thus requiring 2 weeks or more of treatment, and with a severe mortality rate of about 15%, follow-up is usually required for more than 1 year. Prompt treatment and strict abstinence from alcohol is recommended for biliary pancreatitis.
