The hidden disease of tall, short, fat and thin

As the saying goes: “tall, short, fat, thin”, it is the diversity of human body types that makes up this colorful world. But if your child looks too tall, too short, too fat or too thin among children of the same age, you should be alert to the possibility that some kind of endocrine disease is at work! Too tall: Is being tall a disease? You may find it strange that “precocious puberty” is characterized by being taller than children of the same age, growing fiercely at a time when they should not be, as well as the appearance of secondary sexual characteristics, accelerated bone age, and eventually early epiphyseal closure, resulting in a short height in adulthood. “If the child is a boy, the parents are often proud of the fact that the child is still growing until adulthood, and the ends of the limbs, face, nose and jaws are obviously enlarged, and only then do they pay attention to it. Too short: We cannot let our children lose at the starting line, so “short stature” is always taken seriously by parents. These children are often about half a head shorter than their peers and often sit in the first two rows of the class, probably due to lack of growth hormone, thyroxine or systemic diseases and environmental factors. Excessive fat: excessive body fat in the preschool period is often not taken seriously, people instead think that small fat pier is quite cute, until the weight uncontrollable growth. In fact, “simple obesity” is a lifestyle disease, due to poor lifestyle habits such as excessive consumption of high calorie food (fried food, drinks or sweets, etc.) and too little exercise, for the adult metabolic syndrome such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary heart disease, diabetes and other hidden problems. “Cortisolism” is a kind of pathological obesity, manifested by excessive facial skin, full moon face, buffalo back, hairy, etc. The disease is often caused by pituitary adenoma or adrenal adenoma. “Late-onset hypothyroidism” often manifests as short and fat, growth and development lags behind, while intelligence can be normal. Excessive thinness: If there is a significant weight loss within a short period of time, attention should be paid to “hyperthyroidism” or “diabetes mellitus”, the former manifesting excessive eating, easy hunger, thinness, excessive sweating, irritability, inattention and decreased academic performance; the latter manifesting The latter shows “three more and one less”, i.e., more food, more drink, more urine, and lethargy. To sum up, as long as you are an attentive person in life, I believe it is not difficult to find the above abnormal growth and development phenomena, then as long as you go to the regular hospital with children’s endocrine specialist in time, you can reduce the above diseases to the health hazards of children!
