Dental cone beam calculator tomography (CBCT) is currently the most advanced equipment in dentistry. Because of its low cost, high resolution and low radiation, CBCT has become an important tool for the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases. The advantage of CBCT over conventional hospital CT scans is that three-dimensional images of the dental arch and surrounding tissues can be obtained at a higher spatial resolution and lower radiation dose without exposure to the high radiation environment generated by CT scans. Huang Diyan, Department of Stomatology, Jinan Military General Hospital CT scan, human tissue is exposed to a small fan or flat sheet emitter, and the machine makes multiple rotational scans around the patient’s head, with a radiation dose of up to 1200-3300microsieverts; while a single cone-beam rotation of the CBCT scan can obtain three-dimensional information with a radiation dose of 36microsieverts The patient receives one-tenth of the radiation of a CT scan, so the patient is free from the risk of radiation.
