There is no specific drug treatment for femoral head necrosis, which usually progresses gradually to joint deformation and severe pain, and finally has to be treated by artificial joint replacement surgery. However, early ischemic necrosis of the femoral head (stage 1 and 2) can be treated with hip preservation therapy represented by drilling and decompression. Some hip diseases such as developmental hip dysplasia with osteoarthritis, traumatic hip osteoarthritis, and advanced lesions of slipped femoral epiphysis have similar clinical symptoms and some imaging examinations with the manifestations of femoral head necrosis, which can be easily confused.
