What is the maximum hardness of cirrhosis of the liver

Examination of liver elasticity can assist in the diagnosis of cirrhosis if the hardness index reaches 17.5 or higher, with no maximum upper limit, but liver elasticity is not a criterion for the diagnosis of cirrhosis. The hardness value in liver elasticity tests is influenced by many factors, such as inflammation, necrosis, edema, and jaundice of liver cells. A patient with jaundice can have a very high liver stiffness value, but when the condition improves and the jaundice returns to normal, the stiffness value decreases. Therefore, the diagnosis of cirrhosis and the degree of cirrhosis should be combined with liver function, blood routine, liver, biliary and spleen ultrasound, and even CT of the liver, etc. We cannot judge whether there is cirrhosis and the degree of cirrhosis simply from the hardness value of the liver elasticity.
