Plasmacytoid mastitis is a benign disease of the breast with chronic non-bacterial infection based on dilated milk ducts and plasma cell infiltration, which is a common disease among women in their reproductive years and occurs during the non-lactating period. Modern medicine mainly uses surgical methods to treat plasmacytoid mastitis. No matter what kind of surgery is taken, the patient’s breast shape can be greatly altered, which seriously affects the quality of life and is difficult for the patient to accept. In Chinese medicine, plasmacytoid mastitis is called “acanthotic canker sore”. It is mainly due to congenital deficiency, internal injury from the seven emotions, dysregulation of the flush, and external infection. The clinical use of Chinese medicine is mainly based on staged treatment, with different methods depending on the stage of the disease. In Western medicine, plasmacytoid mastitis is considered an autoimmune disease, and hormone therapy can lead to remission and lesion reduction. The current treatment gradually tends to combine Chinese and Western medicine. Based on the pathogenesis, preoperative treatment with TCM evidence-based therapy combined with hormone therapy, combined with surgery, can achieve good results. Narrow the scope of surgery and reduce postoperative recurrence. This new technology combines the evidence-based treatment in Chinese medicine with hormone therapy in Western medicine, which can significantly enhance the efficacy of plasmacytoid mastitis and maintain the patient’s breast shape to a greater extent. It is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
