Rhizoma Chuanxiong is a plant-based Chinese medicine, warm in nature, pungent in flavor, and belongs to the liver, gallbladder and pericardium meridians. It is used in the treatment of bruises and swelling pain, dysmenorrhea, menstrual disorders, stabbing pain in the chest and hypochondrium, rheumatic paralysis, abdominal pain in the mass in the abdomen, and sores and swelling pain. The adverse effects and contraindications of this product are not clear at present. It should be noted that prolonged use of this product will disperse the true qi, and should be taken with caution by those with yin deficiency and fire (deficiency of yin and essence in the body, resulting in hyperactivity of deficiency fire), upper and lower deficiency (headache and irritability in the upper part of the body, and lumbar soreness and frequent urination in the lower part of the body), and those with weakened qi. If Chuanxiong is needed, it should be applied under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, and should not be taken on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
