What happens when you hear bones when you open your mouth?

Acute temporomandibular arthritis, also known as temporomandibular joint disorder, is a condition in which the cartilage surface of the temporomandibular joint is damaged when the mouth is opened with great force. Common actions such as eating chewing gum, eating ribs, eating peanuts, etc. may cause damage to the cartilage surface, resulting in local swelling and pain, and causing a rattling sound when opening the mouth. During examination, swelling and pressure pain at the ear screen and temporomandibular joint fossa can be found to be more obvious, and the patient will have symptoms such as restricted mouth opening and painful teeth clenching. If tumor is ruled out, acute temporomandibular arthritis is considered. In terms of treatment, since it is a sterile inflammation, oral anti-inflammatory drugs are not required. If conservative treatment is not effective, local closure can be used for treatment, which is very effective.
