Urology is one of the fastest growing medical disciplines in China and abroad. It was first started abroad in the early part of the last century, and slightly slower in China. After liberation, especially in the 1980s and 1990s, minimally invasive techniques were gradually introduced into the treatment of urological diseases in major cities and hospitals in China. Since the 1990s, the minimally invasive urology technology has developed rapidly in just two decades, not only all foreign minimally invasive projects have been carried out in China, but also the technical proficiency and treatment experience have gradually caught up with foreign levels. Not only the Chinese Medical Association Urology Branch has been established in China, but also branches and subdivisions have been set up in various provinces and cities accordingly. In addition, the men’s surgery society, also from the urology department gradually independent, and successively set up the Chinese and various provinces and cities of the men’s surgery society. In this great situation, many new technologies, new projects, new improvements, new ideas and new advances, day by day, emerging, so that the domestic level of urology and male surgery has been a rapid development. All these are the luck, blessing and pride of the nation! Because, thanks to minimally invasive techniques, the majority of surgeries, can be treated by minimally invasive techniques and endoscopy, no longer having to undergo traditional open surgery, long surgical incisions and long pain and recovery periods. Overall, the life expectancy of the nation’s population is now much longer compared to previous generations. This is not only due to the progress of society and the improvement of quality of life, but more importantly because of the progress of medicine and the development of treatment technology. In simple terms, the current minimally invasive techniques in urology and male surgery cover various diseases such as stones, tumors, malformations, obstructions, injuries, including laparoscopic, percutaneous nephrological, transurethral ureterorenoscopy and ureteroscopy, transurethral treatment of prostate, bladder and intraurethral diseases, and other organs such as adrenal gland, kidney, ureter, retroperitoneal diseases, bladder, prostate, seminal vesicle gland, spermatic cord, cryptorchid, etc. lumpectomy techniques, and the surgical routes are also divided into transabdominal, retroperitoneal, and transurethral modalities. All of the above minimally invasive techniques and treatment modalities can be carried out and skillfully used in all provincial and municipal tertiary hospitals in China. It is believed that in the future, China’s minimally invasive urology technology will move towards better treatment concepts, technical levels and development space, bringing more good fortune to domestic urology and male patients.
